Dear friends – Well, the time has come! Silver Lining is finally here. It’s been 2 years in the making and what a fun journey it has been. From L.A. to Memphis to N.Y. and everywhere in between. This has been the most fun and rewarding album I have recorded to date on so many levels. I couldn’t have done without my producer Barry Eastmond, my special guests Dave Stewart & William Bell and of course all the extremely talented musicians, engineers and my incredible team. I am so proud of this project and I hope you have enjoyed hearing samples of the new music but now you can hear the full album. I am currently in Washington DC where I will be opening for Barry Manilow tonight and tomorrow – What a way to kick off this release. I appreciate your friendship so much and can’t wait to see you on the road.

When I first started playing the sax, one of the first albums I listened to was David Sanborn’s Straight To The Heart. I loved the interplay between Sanborns’s sax and Hiram Bullock’s guitar so I wrote and recorded JAYWALKING based on that idea. I invited one of the greatest guitarists, Paul Jackson Jr. to join me, and I’m really thrilled with how it turned out.

One of the highlights of making Silver Lining was working with one of the original Soul men, William Bell. I am so excited for you to get the behind the scenes look at the making of our song, the Curtis Mayfield classic PEOPLE GET READY. This was such a fun experience to record and film this at the very historic Royal Studios in Memphis, TN and I think you can get the sense from the video how authentic and organic the process was.

I am so excited and proud to announce the release of my 10th album, Silver Lining, out June 8th. Pre-order and listen to the first single “City Life” ft. Dave Stewart by clicking here. (Read more below.)

We have been working on this project for 2 years, writing new songs and recording. It has taken us from Sunset Sound Studio in Los Angeles to Royal Studios in Memphis and many other locations including New York and the Bahamas. This one may be my favorite because of the songs and the pure joy of recording live in the studio with some of greatest musicians in the world including my special guests; Dave Stewart (of the Eurythmics), Ray Parker Jr, William Bell, Paul Jackson Jr, Lenny Castro, Teddy Campbell, Freddie Washington and even the original funk brother Jack Ashford and so many more amazing talented musicians. I also must mention my co-writer and producer Barry Eastmond who at the helm has created such a fun, uplifting feel-good record! I can’t wait for you to hear all the new music and see you at my live shows. I have some really fun things planned with my band and special guests, including the amazing Kenny Lattimore and also just announced – my band and I have been invited once again to open up for Barry Manilow. Thank you to every single one of you for being such a great friend and supporter through the years. Hope you enjoy the new music and can’t wait to see you again soon. – ML
