Contemporary jazz at its best featuring national recording artist Michael Lington and successful hometown performer Earl Carter backed by the talented Unit 3Deep ensemble, and the evening opens with popular comedian Chris Thomas. Michael Lington is a contemporary jazz saxophonist, songwriter, producer and recording artist who has released 10 solo albums and 23 singles that have reached the contemporary jazz charts including his new album “Silver Lining” debuting at #4 on Billboard and the single “City Life” at #10. He recently toured as opening act for Barry Manilow and was the saxophonist for Manilow, Michael Bolton and Kenny Lattimore. He has also collaborated with Little Richard, Ray Parker Jr., Aaron Neville, Randy Crawford, Taylor Dayne, Chuck Loeb, Brain Culbertson and more great performers. As a Danish-American, Lington has performed at the Royal Wedding of Denmark’s future king and has also played numerous other times for the Danish royal family. Earl Carter is a Washington, DC based guitarist, bassist and saxophonist who in the past appeared on several hit recordings and toured around the world with platinum selling Go-Go band EU (Experience Unlimited). In recent years, he achieved success as a contemporary jazz performer beginning with his 2016 album “Simplicity”which featured the hit single “Sitting in the Park & Greenlight.” His upcoming new album “It Happened Me” features Michael Lington, Marion Meadows, Jackiem Joyner and David Dyson. Earl has also performed with Freddie Jackson, Regina Belle, Angela Bofill, Alyson Williams, Tony Terry, Marcus Johnson, Mike Phillips and many more.
